As dog owners, you know that certain breeds have reputations for more than just characteristic looks but for temperament and personality as well. While many assume the worst of pit bulls, Mike Stone saw the gentleness of Layla. Little did Mike know that by putting in the extra time and care to train Layla, he would be changing an entire family’s life.
In a world where peanut residue is impossible to avoid, 6-year old Grey Sheer is deathly allergic to peanuts. His one too many chance encounters that have landed him in the hospital have led his mother, Catherine Sheer to constantly fear for his safety. Although pit bulls are not generally used as scent dogs, Sheer approached Mike Stone with the hopes that Absolute K9 could help her son.
Within the two months spent with Mike Stone, Layla showed great promise of becoming a scent dog despite the reputation that pit bulls have. When Layla returned to the Sheer family, she proved to be a loyal dog, and a lifesaver to Grey. Read the New York Daily News Article
