Absolute K-9 trains dogs for Del Mar families from our facility at 11339 Sorrento Valley Rd, about fifteen minutes down the I-5. We have been training San Diego dogs since 1994, and more than 10,000 have come through our programs.
Del Mar Is a Recall Town
Most of San Diego keeps dogs on a leash. Del Mar is one of the few places that does not, and that changes what your dog needs to know.
The stretch between 29th Street and the Solana Beach border is where dogs can be off leash. From the day after Labor Day through June 15, off-leash is allowed there. From June 16 through Labor Day, off-leash is permitted only from dawn until 8am, and dogs must be leashed for the rest of the day. Further south, between Powerhouse Park and 29th Street, no dogs at all are allowed during that summer season. Leashes may be no longer than six feet, dogs must wear a licence on the collar, and in off-leash areas they must be under voice control.

An off-leash beach is wonderful right up until your dog ignores you. Open sand, other dogs, birds, joggers and surfers are about the hardest recall test there is, and it is the moment owners discover whether their dog is trained or merely well behaved indoors. A recall that holds under that much distraction is the single most useful thing a Del Mar dog can learn.

Veterinary Care On Site
We share our location with Snug Animal Hospital, so dogs staying with us have veterinary care in the same place. For older dogs, dogs on medication, or anyone nervous about boarding, that is usually the detail that settles it.
Getting Here From Del Mar
We are at 11339 Sorrento Valley Rd, a short run south on the I-5 and typically fifteen minutes from Del Mar. We are open 8am to 7pm Monday through Friday and Sunday, and 8am to 6pm on Saturday.
